The novel, written by Carlo Collodi in 1882 has been translated into over 200 languages. But most people know the tale only  from the Disney movie. Doris Gebel, recipient of the 2024 Louise Seaman Bechtel Fellowship, had an opportunity to study nearly 100 editions of Pinocchio at the Baldwin Library of Historical Children’s Literature. She  will share its cultural, political and literary history based on her studies and experience in Florence on the Pinocchio’s Footsteps tour.
