Come join us at Eastern Shore Public Library for Hoopoe the Mime! This event will include all kinds of silent antics. Come view magical illusions, balloon wizardry, and lots of laughs. Open to all ages.

About Hoopoe:

Hoopoe (aka, Chris Yerlig) blends silent pantomime comedy, movement illusions, sleight of hand magic tricks and balloon wizardry, to create an original vaudeville show that is funny, imaginative and full of surprises. The unexpected is to be expected when audience volunteers are invited to join him on stage to assist with illusions. Young and old unite through laughter as they follow the non-verbal antics of this unique performer to their humorous ends. Don’t be fooled by anyone else!

Chris Yerlig, an English native began performing in 1985 on the streets of Europe. In the US, where he is now based, Chris performs regularly at libraries, children’s museums, schools, country fairs, festivals, and corporate events. He performed with Circus America at the Olympic Games in Athens, GA, and was a company member for ten years of Enchanted Circle Children’s Theater in Holyoke MA. Chris’s work has made people laugh around the world too: In Japan he performed at the Huis Ten Bosch Theme Park, and in China, at the Kimtom International Clown Festival of Shanghai. With Connecticut non-profit, Project Troubador, he has performed in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Morocco, Cameroon, Benin and Bangladesh. Since 2009 he has worked with Tom Verner and Magicians Without Borders in El Salvador, Guatemala and India, performing and teaching mime to at-risk youth. For Clowns Without Borders he has organized and led clown tours to Haiti.
