Drucilla Matthews-Beach affectionately known as “Dru” is a native of Philadelphia, PA, and the eldest of three born to Julia and the late Thomas Dickerson. She married her loving husband 24 years ago Joshua Beach when she relocated to the Eastern Shore of Virginia. She has two children, four bonus children, grandmother of eleven, and great-great-grandmother of one granddaughter.
Dru has over 40 years of service and experience in the medical field. She has worked as a lab technician, pharmacy technician, teacher we paraprofessional, phlebotomist, psych technician, mental health counselor for children and adults, pharmacy immunizer, and certified nursing assistant. She completed her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Psychology from Troy University. Some of her awards include Best Teacher and Teacher of the Year 2009, and Spiritual growth and empowerment on effective prayer.
She is the go-to person for advice and knowledge of diagnosis of diseases, illnesses, and medication. Known to help people the community who have been homeless helping with housing, and domestic violence situations by providing resources, and food. She is the primary caregiver for her 93-year old mother, and was a patient advocate for her brother who just recently passed. Dru has a history of overcoming various types of trauma and adversity. In April 2022, she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She volunteers at the Eastern Shore Area on Aging for seniors assisting with games, crafts, and meals.
She believes if you speak it in an atmosphere of trust, and believe that God will work it out.
