Archaeologists Present on Eyreville Findings at Eastern Shore Public Library

Virginia state archaeologists will give a presentation on the archaeology and background research of the seventeenth century Eyreville house site in Northampton County on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the Eastern Shore Public Library in Accomac, Virginia. The program begins at 7:00 pm and is free and open to the public. State Archaeologists Dr. Michael Barber and Michael Clem are currently conducting an archaeological field school at Eyreville. Dr. Barber’s presentation will focus on the Dutch influences at the site and on the early colonization of the region in general. Mr. Clem’s presentation will be a summary of the work at the site to this point with a detailed look at the features and artifacts recovered. A collection of the artifacts will be on hand for viewing.
