A big “Thank You” to everyone who participated in our summer reading program and events!
We had so much fun designing and creating with Legos, cardboard, paper plates, paper, shells, and wood. We had many STREAM events where we learned about Eastern Shore habitats, electronics, sound and music, our spectacular soil, earthworms, rockets, good nutrition, and more.
We enjoyed visits from groups such as the Nature Conservancy, the Chincoteague Bay Field Station, the Virginia Cooperative Extension, the Virginia Living Museum, the Salisbury Zoo, and others.
All programs were free and open to the public. Our participants were all wonderful!
Support and/or prizes were provided by the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, Eastern Shore Rural Health, Riverside Hospital, United Way of Virginia’s Eastern Shore, and the Library of Virginia. Financial and volunteer support came from the Friends groups of Cape Charles, Nassawadox, and Accomac libraries and the large group of volunteers at the Chincoteague Island library.
We are sad to see the summer coming to an end, but very excited about plans for the coming seasons! Plan to visit us at your public library soon!
